In April 2012 changes to the Local Housing Allowance meant that many of those in receipt of the Allowance would receive a reduced rate of benefit

resulting in their having to find monies to meet a shortfall in their rental payments.

A transitional period of protection has provided those affected time to find alternative accommodation, however, for those who still need assistance one possibility of help to consider is a Discretionary Housing Payment. 

To apply for a Discretionary Housing Payment you can ring 01274 432772 to obtain a form to complete or alternatively you can contact one of the welfare rights advisers at Cancer support to discuss 01274 777711.
