Sessional Therapists Hired Thanks To Bosom Friends

Wednesday, 16 May 2012 10:14

The Wellbeing Service has recently received a generous donation of £3900 from Bosom Friends and has been able to recruit two Sessional Complementary Therapists.

Each therapist will provide 2 hours of additional complementary therapy each week, this is invaluable in our endeavours to continue to support those whose lives are affected by cancer.

Both therapists bring a range of complementary therapies and a wealth of experience with them, we look forward to welcoming John McGoldrick and Erika Simpson to the sessional team from June.

Welfare Reform Act 2012

Wednesday, 21 March 2012 09:41

On 8 March 2012 the Welfare Reform Act received Royal Assent.

The Act legislates for the biggest change to the welfare system for over 60 years.

It introduces a wide range of reforms that will deliver the commitment made in the Coalition Agreement and the Queen’s Speech to make the benefits and tax credits systems fairer and simpler by:
• creating the right incentives to get more people into work by ensuring work always pays
• protecting the most vulnerable in our society
• delivering fairness to those claiming benefit and to the taxpayer.

More information can be found on these reforms by following this link:

Daisy Chain Is Now Available

Wednesday, 16 May 2012 09:18

The Cancer Support Bradford & Airedale newsletter "Daisy Chain" is now available.

The latest Spring/Summer issue is a 'Volunteer Special' and features just some of our amazing volunteers and the wonderful work that they do.  We have our first case study which is an open and honest account from a service user about her cancer journey including how we helped and lets not forget the important fundraising features too - because without your generous donations and event participation we would not be able to continue providing the services and support that we do.

If you have any feedback, thoughts or views on Daisy Chain we would love to hear from you - Contact Us

Tesco Bag Pack Success

Thursday, 29 March 2012 10:34

On Saturday 17th March 2012 we took to the end of checkouts at Tesco, Canal Road, Bradford.

With the help of our wonderful volunteers we packed bags in order to raise money for the organisation.

We managed to man every till all day and after a final count we raised a massive £870!!!

This amazing figure will provide 4 cancer patients with our support for a whole year.

We would like to thank all those that helped on the day and also every single person that donated to us - we couldn’t have done it without you.

We have more dates coming up and we hope that we can make them just as successful.

If you would like to help us with our next bag pack click on the link for more information.

Continued Support From Therapists & Counsellors

Wednesday, 14 March 2012 09:19

The Wellbeing team provide emotional support to clients & carers who are affected by a cancer diagnosis.

The one-to-one support comes in the form of counselling & complementary therapy and would not be possible without the help of our amazing team of qualified volunteer counsellors & complementary therapists.

This week our volunteers have provided 19 treatment sessions to clients and we are extremely grateful to them for kindly giving their time and expertise in supporting clients and carers through their difficult times.
